If the peak oil doomers are right (or for that matter, the Malthusian die-off folks, or the anti-globalization activists hailing the arrival of the Great Depression 2.0, or the people who saw 2012 and believed it had a pretty reasonable premise), then we all have to make some tough decisions, right?
For me, when I read the latest news about the deepening global recession, I don't know whether to reach for my japa mala beads or for my handy puukko knife. Should I say a few prayers and try not to worry, or should I get to work, learning to craft, grow and break things by hand, and how to defend myself and my famly by blade or gun barrell?
I always did pretty well on standardized tests, and here my instincts tell me the right answer here is "all of the above."
